Its a 2000 member server with SQL abd about 15 other apps. I've never had much luck bringing a dead OS back to life from tape. I'm hoping that by 'unmounting' the origianal OS we may have a better shot. JeffRestore to Original OS from Alternate (Parallel) OSHi All, I have a Dell 2650 that is dead. It appears a failed UPS coupled with dirty power has corrupted the original OS install. I can't get in to the recovery console. I can't get my sysadmin tools to work on password recovery because there a no DOS PERC drivers. I was able to load another instance of the OS (in \WINNTNEW). \WINNTNEW is sharing a lot of things with \WINNT. If I load BUE 9.1 onto the new OS (rather than Program Files, using a folder in \WINNTNEW), can I perform a restore to the dead OS? I'm concerned with SystemState. Has anyone had any luck with this? Thanks, JeffRe: What happened to updates.veritas.com?Thank You very much... FYI for others: softwareupdate.veritas.comWhat happened to updates.veritas.com?Hi All, I can't find the web page that checks for Backup Exec patches. I may be getting the URL wrong. Can someone point me in the correct direction. Thanks, JeffRe: BUE 9.1 and QualStar 4210ABUE 9.1, SP3 resolved the issue.Re: Backup Exec 9.1 & Small Business Server 2003Hi Nulaid, How would you reinstall the agent on a fresh build (or is this what you are asking)? From the Tools Menu, choose Serail Numbers and Installation. Push Remote Agent (RANT32) to the new box. JeffRe: Swapped out Dell PV122 TBU unitHi Michael, We found on a similar PowerVault (132T) a FW upgrade did wonders for the way BUE played with the PowerVault. I also found that you do not want to check "Inventory Drives when Backup Exec starts". It seems if the PowerVault is initailizing or performing its own inventory, and then BUE issues an Inventory command, the unit will freeze. I now manually Inventory from BUE after the PowerVault has stopped its inialization and inventory process. JeffRe: Veritas Version 8.6 upgradeDo you have a test environment? IIRC, BUE 9.1 honors the 8.6 serial numbers. Try downloading 9.1 here: http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/264658.htm For service packs and driver updates, see: http://www.veritas.com/be_support/www?schDType=ALL&schDVer=9.1&cmd=docPages&product_code=10&pageid=1&sort=&docOp=search&sOrder=null&cat=null&scat=null&can=null&scn=nullRe: Replacing Tape Drivehttp://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/242017.htm Or, after replacement, delete the removed drive, and then rename the new drive.Multiple Tape Alerts after InventoryHi All, After I swap in tapes to a PoverVault 132T, I receive the message below. I used to think it was due to Hard Read/Write errors on the media, but it is not the case. What would be some common causes of this issue? The critical below is of concern. Additionally, the PowerVaulty has completed it's inventory befor I run the BUE inventory. Also note that this message is inserted between the inventory of slot 2 and slot 3. Is this significant? A quick search last week turned up nothing on the issue. Thanks, Jeff ----- TapeAlert Events ----- Information - The library has been manually turned offline and is unavailable for use.
