Backup Exec showing all Tapes as Cleaning Media

Hi, I just recently installed Backup Exec 10.0 on our backup server. We have an autoloader, HP SureStore Tape 12000e DDS drive attached to the server. Backup Exec recognizes the autoloader under Robotic libraries and the Veritas drivers are installed for this device. No matter how many DDS tapes I put in the drive Backup Exec shows them as being cleaning media. The tapes are fine because they work in other DDS drives. We attached the autoloader to another server using Backup Exec 10 and it works fine. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Hi, did you assing a dedicated slot as a cleaning slot and put a real cleaning tape inside?
Then running an inventory against all slots. Eventually you need to format/erase the (old) tapes to get a correct tape information.
    Good Luck !
  • Thanks for the response! I have erased the tapes, tried to label them etc. It sees every tape in all 6 slots as cleaning media no matter what I do and none of them are set as cleaning slots. I even put in a cleaning tape and cleaned the drive to see if that would fix the problem but I haven't had any luck yet.
