browsing a tape

hello,

please i need to know if it is possible to browse the content of a tape catridge on Backup Exec. If yes below is my problem:

i am on a site1 and i have a tape catridge from a site2. both sites are manage by the same CASO. Could i mount a tape drive on my Backup exec (site2) and browse the content of that tape catridge coming from site2.

I have Backup Exec 2014

    i did not really get what you was talking about but i've got a solution. Thank you for your time!

    steps:

    A.  Insert the tape catridge in the drive

    B.  Inventory the tape catridge

    1. Click the Devices tab.

    2. Select the correct tape drive/robotic library slot.

    3. Right-click on the tape drive/robotic library slot and select Inventory

    C. Catalog the tape catridge

    1. Click on the tape drive/robotic library
    2. Select the tape from the right pane
    3. Right-click the tape and select Catalog

    D.  right click on the tape catridge and then Properties

    E. select media set

    F. Initiate a restor job, select the right Date

    G. Click the Detail View Tab.

     

    You will now see the content List of your Tape Catridge.

    Hi, No you cannot. Unless the tape was FC-attached and you were using SAN SSO which is part of the Enterprise Server Option, this isn't possible with anything else. You would have to put the tape into the remote server's drive, run a Catalog and then Inventory job on the tape, and then browse it from that server. Thanks!
