Backing up Synology NAS is very slow !
Hello, I'm Backing up datas (to an HP LTO-7 Unit, Backup Exec 2016 VRay edition) for a customer. - Windows Server 2012, Hyper-V (3Vm's) : It works fine and fast ! - Synology NASRS3617RPxs (2 NAS with HighAvailability Cluster) : It works, but it is very very slow ! Data discovering at startup takes a long long time ... And Backing up (2 To,, more ore less) takes a long long time too ! I decided to do a FULL Backup each friday (Week-end to backup, no problem), and to do a differential backup monday to thursday. But it seems that Backup Exec always do a Full Backup ... Why do i want to back up these NAs to an LTO tape ?because of cryptolockers and ransomwares ... It saved my life a few times !!! Any help or advices ? I have been tasked to recover some emails from an old tape based backup created with Backup Exec 2010. I have spun up a VM of SBS 2003 as this was what the backups were created on. I've set it up with the same domain details as the original server (that no longer exists). I've loaded up backup exec 2010 R3, inventoried and catalogued the tapes. Tested restore of files from drives stored in the backupsand all is fine. Restore completes without issue. Ican see the microsoft exchange mailboxes in question on the backup. One of the mailboxes in the backup has a warning x symbol on it and its status is 'corrupt or contains corrupt items'. All the other mailboxes appear with the status 'normal'. It is one of these 'normal' mailboxes that i want to recover some emails from. I start a restore job, select the emails, Set the settings in backup exec under 'exchange' to automatically recreate user accounts and mailboxes', dismount the database before restore and commit and mount database after restore. I then start the restore. The job then fails with the following error: 'A checksum of the data has failed.' I am wondering if the whole exchange database is corrupt in the backup. My question is, how can i get the exchange database 'out' of the backup, so i can try and run some utilities on it to recover the emails? I have an issue that just came up on a Backup Exec 15 Central Administration Server on Windows Server 2012r2. I added Dedup storage to our existing iSCSI storage, and suddenly started getting messages about being beyond the licensing for robotic tape libraries and needing to disable 4 tape drives. (V-275-441 error message) Yet, there are no tape drives or libraries hooked to this machine at all. We do have a tape library, on a separate managed machine, at a separate site, with 2 tape drives hooked up my SAS, and both drives are licensed and working properly. I can see that it might see those 2 as a violation of the licensing on the other machine, if they want to be that picky with licensing, but we haven't had issues with it before. It only started with the addition of dedup storage on the CAS machine. Has anyone here seen this before? Is there a way to fix this and get the errors to stop? (It is really a PITA to document this error, the reasons why it is happening, and that I cleared the error without a real fix, every single hour it comes up.)2.1KViews0likes4CommentsRestore files from a network-connected device
Hello! We have a lot of files with .bkf extension, in a hard drive Iomega StorCenter NAS, which we access via local network using IP (192.168.1.46). These files belong to a series of backups made with a Backup Exec installed on another server. Now we want to restore to another server that aslo has the same versiĆ³n of Backup Exec installed, and don't know how to connect the IP of the external device to recognize it. Best regards, and sorry for my English.706Views0likes3CommentsImport backups from a different server and run a restore from the imported backups.
I have recently combined two servers running Backup Exec 2010 R3. All jobs are running on the CASO now. I have the two disks which were the RAID in the non-CASO server (running Server 2003 R2) and need to restore a file from the disks. How would I import the disks with the BKF files into the CASO server? The server which had the jobs combined into the CASO has been wiped, and Server 2012 R2 with BUE 15 installed. I wish that had not happened so quickly now. I am hoping someone has a good solution which won't create problems on the existing BUE 2010 R2 (problems such as duplicate BKF files, which as I understand it might cause a problem in the future.) Hi Alll, I am a Veritas Engineer with the Backup Exec productand this post is not a technical problem or solution. Instead, we are looking for customers who are on 2010 and cannot upgrade to the latest version. Maybe because you are on 2003 where upgrades are not supported to the latest version, or you need to move to newer hardware and cannot for because its manual, etc. If this is you, please contact me directly via the private message option and I will reach out to you with some questions. Thanks in advance! Nick1.6KViews0likes6CommentsBackup exec job engine failed to start
BackupExecJobEngine service hangs at 'Starting'. Earlier the problem started when the job was stucking at 'Active: Running' completes some 10 GB to the drive and hangs there. Then i restarted the services where this resulted in BackupExecJobEngine service hangs at 'Stopping'. After this only now the service hangs at Starting. Is this related Backup exec or the tape drive(currently using HP Ultrium 1760). Can someone help me to resolve this issue?5.5KViews0likes7CommentsReplacing a RAID with backup to disk folders--how should I move the data?
How would I move the BKF files from an existing RAID to a new RAID? Once the data is copied, the old RAID will be removed from service. The RAID to be replaced is one of two 10 TB RAIDs. I don't think I can let the back ups on RAID to be replaced overwrite time period expire without running out of space on the remaining RAID.993Views0likes3Comments
