Can BE15 backup MongoDB

Can BE15 backup MongoDB? Any version limit? Need to input the DB license? any requirement for MMS?

  • The short answer is No, and I've never seen anyversion support this particular DB.

You'd have to look at getting a flat file backup of the DB, assuming that file extension isn't under Backup Exec's Active File Exclusion (which I doubt). AFE automatically skips certain file extensions.

THis means you'd probably have to stop the DB, grab file-level copies of the files, and once done, start them up aagain. Play around with the pre/post script option that BE has, otherwise you have to find another way to back up MongoDB.

    Thanks!

  • The recommended way to backup a database which does not have a BE agent is to dump the database to flat files using the database's built-in utility.  These flat files are then backed up using BE.  Restore is a 2-step process, use BE to restore the flat files and then use the database's built-in utility to restore the database from the flat files.

  • Exactly similar to this thread - https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/can-be15-backup-mongodb-2
