Cannot Overwrite and append on TAPE media
I setting on TAPE can append and overwrite on the job backup , but now today cannot overwrite Job backup...
Please help to advise ?
When you specify overwrite, BE will write from the front of the tape and wipe out any existing data on the tape.
When you append to tape, BE will continue from where it left off the last time. For example, if you have written 1GB of data to your tape, then when you append to this tape, BE will write from the 1GB mark onwards. The previous 1GB of data will be retained.
When you specify "append, otherwise overwrite", you are telling BE to try to append to any appendable tape in the targeted media set. If no appendable tape can be found, then BE look for overwritable tape to overwrite.
I would strongly suggest that you read the media management chapter of the Admin Guide which can be found in the BE installation directory.
