  • Is it a Tape Library or a Standalone drive? Do you see the drive in the Windows Device Manager? 

    Do you see drive related error message in the Window Event Viewer? 

    Have you tried restarting Backup Exec services?

    Have you installed all the latest updates for Bakcup Exec?

  • It is a HP Tape Library and I can see the drive in the Windows Device Manager also.

    I see drive related error message in the Window Event Viewer as :

    "Backup Exec Alert: Device Error
    (Server: "XXXXXXXXXXX01") The drive hardware is offline.

    Please confirm that the drive hardware is powered on and properly cabled."

     

    No I have not tried restarting Backup Exec services nor I have not installed all the latest updates for Bakcup Exec.

     

    Kindly suggest what has gone wrong & how to make drive online.

  • Restarting all the BE services may help. If not, then shutdown both the library and the server, reboot the library followed by the server
