Howto change Path of backup-to-disk folders

Hello everybody,

is there any option to change the path of all backup-to-disk folders that are craeated under Devices Tab in Backup Exec 2010 R3? I will keep the folder structure but I want to use another server as destination for my backup-to-disk folders.

I want to change 100 folders so any help how to make this in the most efficient way would be welcome.

Regards
Florian

  • I think the easiest way is for you to create the new B2D folders, but leave the existing B2D folders where they are.  If your OPP is not long, then just wait for the OPP for the media on the old B2D folders to expire and then delete them.  In the mean time, target your jobs to use the new B2D folders.

    Hope this helps...

  • Hello Kiran,

    thanks for your fast reply.

I allready knew this way to change the backup-to-disk folder. I hoped there is a faster way howto change the the folder. I would prefer simply changing the path of the existing folders (i.e. directly in the Backup Exec Config Database).

  • Changing the path in config or somewhere won't copy the existing data in B2D folder to new location. You have to do it manually. As per my knowledge there is no other way around.

  • I created new B2D folders on my new storage and deleted the old ones. I din't want to copy all the files from the old B2D folders to the new ones. Simply changing the config would have solved my problem.
