Job hangs but only after two successful runs

Greetings All,
Exchange 2000 running on Windows Server 2003. Backup Exec 9 upgraded to version 10 and now the job hangs but only after two successful runs. ( "successful" run speed is also 2X slower than version 9)
The only other change was the addition of Windows 2003 Service Pack.
Have ordered 10D to run direct to disk to check speed issue and will post if successful solution found, but till then we are open to suggestions.

    Hello,
    -When the job hangs what is the job status and are you getting a byte count?
    -Check for any alerts, verify that there is enough place on the tape for the backup to continue. It will also depend on whther you are appending to a tape that has been written to.

    The job status is "running", plenty of room on tape. The progress indicator is also blank? And curiously it always stalls in same location...
