Ok so here is what we tested after Symantec Backup Exec 12d finished job and cartridge will not eject....
1. restart RDXmon service = hardware and software both failed to eject cartridge
2. run Backup Exec job to eject cartridge = hangs on initialization and fails
3. restart Backup Exec services = hardware and software both failed to eject cartridge
4. stop Backup Exec services = hardware and software both failed to eject cartridge (restarted services after)
5. stop RDXmon service = hardware eject failed but software eject worked after clicking "continue" on two Windows warning messages indicating the drive was in use and data loss would occur (la di da)...
6. Restared RDXmon service = hardware and software eject works
Clearly this is an issue with Symantec Backup Exec 12d locking the cartridge and preventing eject after a backup job is run.
Our next test is the following:
- RDXmon v1.12 service running
- Removable Storage service stopped
- Allow backup to complete
- Monday morning the RD1000 will be power cycled (unplugged) and then the hardware eject button will be pushed. I assume this will work.
