Remote Agent V-79-57344-33899

We are trying to backup a drive located on our server which is mapped to our unix server. The drive is mapped through NetDrive the backup destination is USB drive plugged into the windows 2003 server. If we run a manual backup and a test it completes fine.

If we run a schedule backup we get:Unable to attach to Y:.
V-79-57344-33899 - The resource could not be backed up because an error occurred while connecting to the Backup Exec for Windows Servers Remote Agent.

Make sure that the Remote Agent is installed on the target computer and is running.

how do we resolve this so we get a successfull backup to my understanding we wouldnt have to install the remote agent as the net drive maps the unix data as a localdrive.

    It is not recommended to backup a 'Mapped network drive' via Backup Exec

    Try backing up the same contents (i.e. change the backup selections) using the \\servername\sharename (UNC Path) and see if that works.

    Adding to the above comment...

    If you plan to backup the network drive via UNC path OR by installing the remote agent on the remote server, you would still require the Agent for Windows or Linux license to be installed on the media server.

    And if you have the license present & backing up via UNC, this error message can be expected as there is no actual "agent" installed on the remote server. Verify this by checking the job log to confirm if data was actually backed up or check the restore selections.

    ...a RAWS agent is going to be useless if you want to backup a server running Unix. You'd need the RALUS agent installed on your media server AFTER checking that your version is supported by referring to the version of BE's SCL that you are running...

    Hi Superbrain,

     

    In the backup selections it is showing as drive. Y:  the net drive enables us to see the volume over FTP protocol.

    DDS_Support,

    The Y: that you see in your backup selections is the mapped network drive. You need to uncheck that from your backup selections and add the UNC path to that same network share.
