Replication on Backup Exec 15

Hello,

I'm new to Backup Exec. Our office is planning on using BE to backup our data.

We have two locations that will be running BE. We plan to replicate data in site 1 to site 2. In site 2, there is a different data set which we want to replicate to site 2. Is this possible using Backup Exec 2015? What are the requirements/ licenses? Is there a document regarding this setup?

Thank you.

Vincent

  • One Enterprise Server Option should be enough. Both sites will be acting as media servers (one will be a Central Admin Server and the other would be a Managed Media Server). DeDuplication Option for both servers will be required.

Best to confirm with the Licensing Team if you need any other licenses or not.

  • Consider using the Enterprise Server Option with DeDuplication Licenses. You can then run Optimized Duplication.

Have a look @ this whitepaper as well - https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/backup-exec-2014-technical-white-paper-optimized-duplication

  • VJware.

Thanks for your reply. In our scenario, site 1 will be replicating to site 2 and site 2 to site 1. Do I need the Ent Server Option on both sites? How about the media server on both sides? How many licences do we need?
