The difference in the backup

Hi all,

Please, explain me what the differences at backups i have and how these differences may affect the recovery PC.

both PCs use the exact same backup policy.

At both PC have installed Windows XP sp 3.

Symantec Backup EXEC 2010 R3 Version 13.0 Rev. 5204 (64-bit).

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi

From the snap looks like one is snapshot backup and other is not a snapshot backup

The one which is snapshot backup for that you would have backup the server with AOFO option turned on so it is snapshot backup

The other backup was not using the AOFO so it looks to be a non snapshot backup

It should not affect the recovery as for recovery you need full system backup including C and System state and shadow copy components

    Thanks

  • Without AOFO, a backup may not be able to backup some critical files which are opened during the time of the backup.  This may cause the restore to fail due to these missing critical files.  You should always turn on AOFO for your file backup jobs.

  • These two PCs use one backup policy and AOFO on in policy. Why on one computer AOFO works, and on the other is not?
