Unable to back up directory

When I run a backup, it always fails with a directory access error. I have ensured that the folders have proper rights so that the backup should be able to access them. There isn't anything in the folder, they are hidden, and they are system folders.

Suggestions?

  • You should not backup the sysvol directly. Check the registry under HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup and you should see a listing for NTFRs. These files should never be touched directly.

Use System State backup (or Shadow Copy Components) to backup this data.
  • Hello,

You can also try backing the System State with NTBackup.

    Let us know the result.
