V-79-57344-65247 - A failure occurred reading an object.

You are going to need to debug this on the BE server to find out which object is causing the error.

Run sgmon.exe found in C:\program files\veritas\backup exec\nt directory.

Capture to file, and check the first 4 capture options.

Then run the backup of the Shadow Copy Components - once it fails, check out the sgmon.log found in the backup exec\nt\logs directory - it should give some indication where the error is.

I know which objects are causing the problem, the logs tells me that. It the following objects:

WARNING: "dhcp" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.
WARNING: "WMI" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.
WARNING: "ntds" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.
WARNING: "Registry" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.

What can I do about it ?

Apply the hotfix provided by MS and check the result.

Applied the hotfix, but it's still failing with the same error.

If the Shadow Copy Components are corrupt, can I someway repair them ?

Have asked Microsoft for help. They can't help as they say it's a Veritas problem.

A "vssadmin list writers" doesn't show any errors.

Sorry i'm a little bit late with the reply on this thread.
But the problem is still there. But I'm testing the same backup this the NT Backup utility
And that backup was successful. The log file is in this post
We run this test backup. With only the system state.
The normal backup runs fine (Files, Exchange, SQL)

Also got the same error here, cannot backup system state.
File and SQL backup is no problem but when i turn on the systemstate backup, the verify goes wrong
