    Full backup

This schedule type backs up the Exchange Server database and associated transaction logs. Exchange truncates all committed transaction logs after NetBackup notifies it that the backup succeeded. In replicated environments, the truncation is scheduled and does not occur immediately.

By default, transaction logs are not truncated for Instant Recovery backups. You can enable the truncation of logs for this type of backup or you can perform a backup to a storage unit.

See About truncating Exchange transaction logs with Instant Recovery backups.

See Truncating Exchange transaction logs by performing a backup to a storage unit.

Truncating transaction logs would answer your question.

you need to configure this in on host properties of exchage client.

    Hope this helps.

  • PLEASE upgrade your client! As you know, 6.x is no longer support.

As per Nagalla's extract from TN or  NBU for Exchange Admin Guide, it is not NBU that truncates transaction logs:

Exchange truncates all committed transaction logs after NetBackup notifies it that the backup succeeded.

No special config needed. Exchange should automatically truncate the logs if Information Store backups are successful (status 0).
If not, check Event Viewer Application logs on Exchange client.

  • Agreed with Marianne.

Netbackup selection to Truncates is required only in case of Instant Recovery Backups. from the Host Properties of exchage client.
