Disk to disk to tape. Do I need advanced disks?

Hi all,

I'm trying to convince my manager that the best thing we can do is keep the last full backup and the last differential in network storage (for immediate recovery) and duplicate all the backup images to tape for a longer retention, but I'm getting stuck in the licencing bit.

As far as I know, that D2D2T is best done via a lifecycle policy, but that requires an advanced disk licence and my reseller says that that is charged based on the number of TBs the disk is.

Is that correct?

Any other ways of approaching D2D2T in NBU?  I haven't tested it yet but exporting to tape the backup image saved on disk has benefits like better speeds(big sequential ops as opposed to randomly located file level backups) and less client workload as opposed to running two individual policies, one for disks and another for tapes.

Thanks!
