failed BMR

NBU 7.6.0.3

i have ran BMR backups before and they were smooth. first time i encounter a problem. the usual BMR settings, "All Local Drives". an error 1 on the parent job but status 0 for the child. same BMR backup policy which has been copied over and over (of course edited accordingly) are fine.
