how to migrate unix media server to windows.

We are planning to migrate our two unix media servers to windows. one is linux and other is solaris. The aim is to migrate these servers and then keep them aside for possible restore operation if required. I will like to know if there is any guide ot technote out there on steps to go about this.

Do I need to convert the licence for these media servers to windows licence?

Thank you guys for your help.

  • First provision the new media servers (new hostnames), then use the decommission tool to 'migrate' media ownership.

Your Linux license will work on Windows media server (NetBackup Enterprise Server, Master/Media Server,
    Windows, Linux, Solaris x64).
If your Solaris media server is SPARC, you will need to migrate license to 'Windows, Linux, Solaris x64'.

see http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH130438 for instructions and download. Download links for other NBU versions can be found in Related Articles section of this TN.
