Master Server in Solaris11 Zone

Hi all,

have read the Tech note mentioned in this post: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/solaris-11-netbackup-global-and-local-zones#comment-8416121.

Understand that Master Server in Solaris11 Zone in not supported yet.

Does anyone have a guess when it will be supported like with Solaris10 Zones.

It would help me with planning HW+SW.

Thanx,

  • hmmm, If I read it correctly :

    Global Zone server support:
All NetBackup components supported with Solaris 11 physical media servers are supported in a Solaris 11 global zone. Backups can be performed in individual local zones, or by backing up the entire system from the global zone.

    Non-Global Zone server support:

NetBackup servers are not currently supported in either whole or sparse Solaris 11 non-global zones.

So if it is zoned it is supported.

  • I think the question here is - 'When will master be supported in non-global (local) Solaris 11 zone'?

  • Marianne is right. Thats exactly my question.

Maybe i couldnt express myself correctly (German guy).    ;-)

Does anyone have a clue ?

I'm planning for new HW and need to know if i put Solaris 10 or 11 on the boxes.

  • It will probably be best to get hold of your local Symantec SE, who will be able to get roadmap info from Product Managers.

Symantec will not publish roadmap info in a public forum.
