Media Server Set Up to Remote Storage

Hi,

I have a requirement where my master server and tape library are in 1 location, but the storage i need to connect to is in another.  Is my assumption correct that I can add a media server at the remote location and connect the 2?  So far my googling has suggested the Media Server needs to be connected to the tape drives, and not the storage?
