NBU client for Apple Mac desktop Mavericks

Could you please help us with NBU client for Apple Mac desktop Mavericks

  • Sorry to say, Mavericks (aka "Mac OS X 10.9") is not yet certified for the NetBackup client, because when you attempt to install the Mac client, it either fails, or the installation appears to succeed but the installed NetBackup daemons shut down with errors.

My fingers are crossed that the 7.6.0.2 maintenance release will see those bugs addressed and some proliferation to Mavericks!

Please subscribe to the OSCL to receive updates on client support and proliferation!

See page 7 for Mac OS X client support (currently 10.5-10.8, with some footnotes)

  • You forgot to mention your NBU version?

    Or Mac OS version?

Supported OS versions are listed in NBU 7 OS SCL: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76648

The Mac OS client binaries for NBU 7.6.0.1 can be found on FileConnect  in Unix Clients1 download:

    NetBackup Unix Clients 1
AIX, FreeBSD, HP paRisc & IA64, Mac, Solaris Sparc & X86
     NetBackup_7.6.0.1_CLIENTS1.tar.gz

You will need the serial # on your license key certificate to access FileConnect.

  • To close the loop on THIS thread, Mavericks is indeed certified beginning with 7.6.0.2.  This was included in the most recent update to the CL I linked above.
