  • Yup.

    From NetApp Support website:

Advantages of performing NDMP backups from destination volumes

You can perform Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) backups from SnapMirror source volumes or destination volumes. There are advantages to performing NDMP backups from SnapMirror destination volumes rather than from source volumes.

SnapMirror transfers can happen quickly and with less impact on the source system than that of NDMP backups. To significantly reduce or eliminate backup windows, you can perform SnapMirror replication from a primary system to a secondary system, and then perform an NDMP backup to tape from the secondary system.

When a volume is moved to a different node, you must reconfigure the NDMP backup job to back up the volume from the new location. SnapMirror source volumes are more likely than destination volumes to be moved for performance or capacity reasons. If you perform NDMP backups from the destination volume, you are less likely to have to reconfigure the NDMP backup job.

  • No problem..

Also here's a technical report from netapp on how to set up ndmp backups .. (For NB 6.5 & 7.0, but pretty much still applies)
