Netbackup 6.5.6 to 7.5 new hardware

I've got a slight issue.  Current master/media (Windows 2003 32-bit) is running NB 6.5.6 and doesn't meet the miniumum hardware requirements to upgrade to 7.5.  Purchased a new server which is running Windows 2008 standard 64-bit.  I have performed a catalog backup on the current master and removed the server from the domain.  I renamed the new 2008 server the same as the the old master and gave it the same IP address.

Here is where my problem starts.  I was going to install 6.5.6 on the new server and then reocver the catalog, check all polcies etc to ensure operation and then upgrade to 7.5.  However, I do not have the 64-bit verion of 6.5 only the 32-bit.  Symantec tech support told me I should be able to install the 32-bit on the 2008 server as 6.5 is no longer available  Tried and it keeps telling me to use a 64-bit version.

Any ideas how I can get around this?  I know I can't recover a 6.5.6 catalog backup using 7.5.  Thanks.

  • Hello.

I have a similar problem. Except that I'm looking for a tech note like http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH71299 (especially the ISO) but for Unix (precisely a Red Hat 5 64bits). Do you know where I can find it ? (I have been in contact with NetBackup support for 2 days without success).
