Netbackup 7.5.0.6 client & Windows Server 2012R2

I need to install Netbackup client on Windows Server 2012R2 file server failover cluster.

When I try to start the installation using the NB_7.5.0.6.winnt.x64.Client.Win2012, a popup alert notify that the UAC is enabled on host, but the UAC are currently disable:

Why this alert appears?

On passive node, I continued the installation ignoring the alert. The installation is completed successfully but the process takes over 35 minutes.

Looking at the log file, some time as needed when the process try to install service:

Anyone had the same behavior?

Thanks in advance.

  • Unlike previous Windows versions, UAC in Windows Server 2012 cannot be truely disabled using the GUI, hence why the alert.

Some registry editing and a reboot is needed:

It should be fine without the registry edit if you run the installer as an administrator.
Backups are running fine over here. If you did not run install as admin, try doing it to see if it completes in less time. It takes around 10 minutes on some of our 2012 hosts.

  • Once UAC is disabled you have to reboot the sever. Make sure you run the setup as administrator and you are not running the master server setup as you can't make this master with 7.5.0.6

7.5.0.6 version of netbackup only supports windows 2012 as CLIENTS

  • Hi Sazz,

the UAC was already disabled; I've tryed to reboot the server and run the setup as administrator, but the warning still appears.

    I'm using the NB_7.5.0.6.winnt.x64.Client.Win2012.

    Thanks in advance.

  • The warning on UAC disappears by disable it in registry and rebooting, but the installation process still requires more than 30 min:
