This is the latest version since there is no ISP 2005 out yet. I have solved this problem somehow? After much problem getting the remote agent to install on our XP SP2 machines, I manually installed the remote agents (Veritas needs to communicate the SP2 issue better). During this process I also added the appropriate ports to our firewall according to TechNote 244303. I had previously identifed Symantec ccapp.exe as the conflicting program which prevented BE 10.0 from starting and turned it off during startup via msconfig. After the remote agents were installed and BE 10.0 was configured and working properly, just for grins, I turned ccapp.exe back on via msconfig. Low and behold BE 10.0 now starts with Symantec ISP running. Somehow there must be something preventing BE 10.0 from starting without the ports being "preset". We DID NOT have this issue with BE 9.1, the install and configuration went smooth with the SAME install of Symantec ISP.Install Problem Remote Agent Fails: Access Denied. This is B.S.I'm very p....d off after two days trying to get this to work and now finding the previous thread below. WHY ISN"T THIS MENTIONED IN ANY OF THE DOCUMENTATION SHIPPED WITH THE PRODUCT. For the price I paid for this software and after all the problems I'm having getting version 10 installed and WORKING, this is a great dis-service to your customers. No wonder they sold the company. Veritas get you act together. install problem remote agent Posted on: Apr 26, 2005 8:38 AM "I've installed backup exec for windows v10 rev 5484 sp1 on a windows 2000 server when I install a remote agent on a windows xp sp2 client, I get the following message : "attemting to connect to server \\xxx failed with the following error :access is denied" what can be the problem ? kind regard Peter Posts: 4 Registered: 4/20/05 Re: install problem remote agent Posted: Apr 26, 2005 11:43 AM Apr 26, 2005 11:43 AM peterl Reply The following technote states that push installs cannot be performed to Windows XP SP2 systems. http://support.veritas.com/docs/270144 It does, however, offer a technote at the bottom of the article that describes how to do a local install of the Remote Agent. I hope this helps.BE 10.0 fails to start with Symantec Internet Security installedAfter installing BE 10.0 it fails to start if Symantec Internet Security is loaded at startup. If I deinstall Internet Security everything works fine. Has anyone else had this issue and is this a conflict that can be resolved with a config setting or are these two software programs just incompatible? It's ironic that the company aquiring Veritas doesn't have software compatible with their main product.Backup Exec 10.0 Symantec Internet Security Pro compatibility issueI just installed BE V10.0 for Windows Server after completely removing V9.1 which was working perfectly for the last year. For some unknow reason version 10.0 would not start. After a little troubleshooting I narrowed the problem down to Symantec Internet Security Professional executable, (ccapp.exe). I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this problem? Is there a know compatibility issue with this app or is there a setting I need to change in Symantec ISP to allow BE 10.0 to run? I find it quite disturbing that the company who will soon own Veritas doesn't have a version of software that's compatible with Vertas products. Am I missing something here? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
