NetBackup 8.3. Upgrade or fresh install

Hi, We currently have NetBackup 7.7.1 on Linux. We are planning to upgrade it to the version 8.3 and have it installed on a brand new hardware. I would like to ask what would be the best way to do t...

    This is your best option.  Take catalog backup on old server. Prepare new server with same hostname, install same NBU version to same path, recover catalog. Run on old version for a day or two, then upgrade.

    It is not possible to 'migrate' between different versions. Catalog recovery can only be done using same version, same hostname.


    Beside upgrading NetBackup we will need to change Linux hostname also.


    This is not a DIY job. You need Veritas consulting services. They can migrate to a new version software and change hostname.
