OpenStorage Licensing

Hello,

I have a question regarding "DATA PROTECTION OPTIMIZATION OPTION 7.5 XPLAT 1 FRONT END TB STD" license.

We have license for 11 TB and we access the dedup as OpenStorage.

Please, do you know how can I get info  how the capacity-based license is utilized and if I have to buy more or not?

Looking at Netbackup License Keys tab (picture attached) I cannot see any info.

Thanks

  • NBU does not count. It is up to the customer to ensure that licensed amount is not exceeded or that more is purchased once exceeded. The amount of 'front-end' client data is measured.

    As per Licensing Guide:

The actual data to be protected is measured, not the capacity of storage on which it resides or the aggregate amount of data backed up to disk. Data is measured as the current largest aggregate full (or synthetic full) backup performed.

You can use nbdeployutil in ...\netbackup\bin\admincmd\ to help determine current usage.

  • Get in sync with your SE, they have tools which can help you get single pane of glass on NBU environment and your license utilization across all policy

Otherwise use nbdeployutil as suggested by marianne

  • Hi

You can also use OpsCentre, if you have it deployed in your environment. If you head over to settings I believe, that last tab should also give you an estimate of your estate in netbackup(in a nice csv file).

Keep in mind to use this feature you have to have the OpsCentre agent installed.
