Just a wild idea, but ….

Where are you running this import from ???

EG. RDP session to server from your laptop ...

    1/23/2017 4:24:30 PM - positioned DIF768; position time: 00:00:00

    1/23/2017 4:24:30 PM - begin reading

1/23/2017 4:31:00 PM - Error bpbrm(pid=26856) could not write BPBRM_READ_FILENAME message to stderr: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.  (10054)

1/23/2017 4:31:00 PM - Error bpbrm(pid=26856) could not write EXIT STATUS to OUTSOCK

    1/23/2017 4:31:00 PM - Info tar32(pid=28944) done. status: 40: network connection broken

    client process aborted(50)

It's starts around 10.xx in the morning and runs happily all day ....  4.30pm could be 'going home time' - so you logoff, expecting the job to continue running ... where as Windows will have other ideas and will kill off any processes spawned during the RDP session (eg. the import) ....

  • A bit more detail is required, please:

    1) Version of NetBackup Client of the original client.

    2) Version of NetBackup Server of the original backup Media Server.

    3) Version of NetBackup Server of the now importing Media Server.

    4) Version of NetBackup Server of the now importing Master Server.

    5) Where is the backup image being imported?  On tape, on disk?

    6) If it is on tape, was any form of tape media encryption used to create the original backup?

    7) Has the backup image being imported since expired from the original NetBackup domain that it was written within?  (I ask because I'm wondering if we might still be able to list the backup image in that original/source NetBackup domain).

    8) Can you attach the whole activity monitor job log (as a text file please - not pasted) for the failed phase 2 import?

    Thank you.

        That's a good start.

        9) Ok, could you attach (as a text file) the portion of the NetBackup bptm log from NetBackup server "saosapp07"... but just the portion:

        ...from:   1/23/2017 4:20:00 PM

        ...to:       1/23/2017 4:40:00 PM

        10) Could you attach this text/log file from server "saosapp07":

             <Install_dir>\VERITAS\NetBackup\db\media\errors

        Thank you.
