you need to use NB client name and password set during your machine registration. basically your client machine name/pwd added via "bpnbat -AddMachine" CLI on master.

Do you have any firewall sits in between media server and client machine and does socket timeout if idle?
Using master admin GUI, try increasing timeout values for your master and media server connections. Check if it helps.
Did you try restoring the same backup to alternate host as suggested earlier? That is another test to cross check.
