Replacing Net backup Configuration on New server with Net backup 8.1
- 6 years ago
Apologies for the late reply - your post somehow 'got lost' in the system.
It seems you won't be using the same disk/lun for MSDP on the new master, right?
If that is the case, best to duplicate/migrate everything off MSDP and decommission existing MSDP config:Steps to remove NetBackup Media Server Deduplication Pool (MSDP) configuration from a NetBackup environment
https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.TECH150431You will then configure the new storage as new MSDP pool on the new master/media server.
About migrating NBU to new server, see this TN:
Using catalog backup and recovery to transfer NetBackup catalogs between Windows master servers as part of a hardware refresh http://www.veritas.com/docs/000041076
Please take note of additional steps regarding catalog backup and restore from 8.1 onwards -
As from version 8.1, a disaster recovery package is created during each catalog backup. The package is encrypted with the passphrase that you set.
When you install the same NBU version on the new server, be sure to install NetBackup in 'disaster recovery mode'.See Disaster recovery packages and Recovering the catalog in NetBackup Administrator's Guide, Volume I
