SAP HANA backup using Netbackup 7.7.x

Hello All,

It would be gr8, if anyone can share the experience and step by step methodology for setting up SAN hana backp with NBU 7.7.x.

We have NBU Master server 7.7.x & Appliance 5230 as media server setup.

We have 3 Nodes SAP hana cluster and would like to backup it using best practise in Netbackup.

Also, sort of brief on SAP hana relevant to Netbackup integration would be helpful.

    1: SAP Hana Studio

    2: Look at page 75 in the Netbackup SAP admin guide.

    3: Look at page 76 in the Netbackup SAP admin gudei (You use SAP Hana Studio )

    You can't confiure this alone, you need a SAP ressource also.

    Thanks Nicolai for your response.

    I have gone through both the options which you have highlighted above, however i would appreciate replies on below to understand the SAP admin guide & relevant steps.

     

    1. From where SAP HANA backup is initiated (NBU server or SAP HANA DB Node)

    2. How to create backup script file for SAP hana backup?

    3. Where to store this backup script file? (is it same like SQL Backup script concept)

    1. You can do it either way. See pages 79-80 http://www.veritas.com/docs/000076655

    2. Sample scripts already exist and you can modify them. See pages 49-56 http://www.veritas.com/docs/000076655

    3. You can store it wherever you want. See pages 49-56 http://www.veritas.com/docs/000076655

     

    The admin guide contains very detailed information. Just follow it patiently and make your own notes on how to do SAP backups. In the future you can go back to your own documentation and replicate it easily.

    Hi

    In Admin guide, it is mentioned to specify the scripts in backup selection (while creating SAP backup policy).

    My question is,

    A. If we have 6 nodes SAP HANA setup then how many scripts would require to secure complete setup??, 

    B. Also as per admin guide, in single SAP backup policy, we need to specify all SAP HANA Nodes & scripts in backup selection, Question : How my backup policy will differentiate which client is associated to which script ?   ,Just trying to understand on "scripts and SAP HANA Nodes association" in SAP backup policy.

     

    Please anyone can suggest.
