sql2000 restore is not initiating

Environment

Netbackup server = 7.01

netbackup client = 7.0

MS Sql Server version = 2000

My sql restore is not initiating in the activity monitor. i am doing alternative restore.

i have attached the bpcd logs of netbackup server for reference:

  • I found status 37 in bprd log:

    17:28:12.178 [2064.6092] <2> bpcd_remote_write: from client tpsbkp.tpsonline.com: DestHost:TPSBKP ReqUser:root RemotePath:(37)logs/mssql_backup_failures/122410.rpt OpenMode:a Data:(1)

    See TN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH137534

    Also status 12:
    17:28:12.288 [2064.6092] <2> bpcd_remote_write: couldn't open remote file /C/Program Files/Veritas/NetBackup/logs/mssql_backup_failures/122410.rpt on client TPSBKP, error = 2
    17:28:12.288 [2064.6092] <2> bpcd_remote_write: INF - bpcd_remote_write status = 12
    17:28:12.288 [2064.6092] <2> process_request: bpcd_remote_write failed - status = file open failed (12)

Does the user starting the restore on client TPSBKP have write access to log directories in C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\logs?

Please also share more info about your environment:

    Master server name
    Source client
    Destination client

It is unclear which client you actually want to restore. You seem to be looking for SQL type backups for all of the following:

According to this section you are trying to restore to master server, right?
    MASTERSERVER TPSBKP
    CLIENT tpsbkp

You need to start the restore from the destination client. Please post dbclient log on the destination client and also the restore script that was created after browsing for backups.

I found the TN but after following the below TN i am still facing the same error

  • You need to check bprd log on master server as starting point.

Unless the master server is used as client, I have never found any use for bpcd on a master server.

Also ensure you have dbclient log on destination client.

  • I found status 37 in bprd log:

    17:28:12.178 [2064.6092] <2> bpcd_remote_write: from client tpsbkp.tpsonline.com: DestHost:TPSBKP ReqUser:root RemotePath:(37)logs/mssql_backup_failures/122410.rpt OpenMode:a Data:(1)

    See TN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH137534

    Also status 12:
    17:28:12.288 [2064.6092] <2> bpcd_remote_write: couldn't open remote file /C/Program Files/Veritas/NetBackup/logs/mssql_backup_failures/122410.rpt on client TPSBKP, error = 2
    17:28:12.288 [2064.6092] <2> bpcd_remote_write: INF - bpcd_remote_write status = 12
    17:28:12.288 [2064.6092] <2> process_request: bpcd_remote_write failed - status = file open failed (12)

Does the user starting the restore on client TPSBKP have write access to log directories in C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\logs?
