Supersede Backup Jobs

I have two polices going to the same server and I do not want job B to start  until Job A is finished, is there a way to supersede a job like in Backup Exec?

  • use the bpend notify script (putting in the name of the first policy in the name of the script - see manuals on how to do that)   then in the script put in the command to run the backup as a user backup calling the second policy -when the job for the first policy finish it will kick off a user backup using the second policy.

be sure to create user schedules in the second policy.

  • Well depends on your storage unit and policy configuration....

If you've not configured "allow multiple datastreams" each policy will create 1 stream. If you then limit the storage unit to not allow multi plexing one job will start and the other will be queued. You can set the priority on one job to be higher than the other.

Or just schedule them in two different slots (if they're not in the same policy)
