Unable to browse domain, client install server 2012r2

Same issue as posted here: no domains found (cannot browse)

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/not-able-browse-domain

Steps taken:

- disabled UAC (also in registry), reboot

- firewall off

- run setup as admin

- restart computer browser.

Netbackup 7.6.0.1 on Server 2012r2

  • Can you use Windows Explorer on the Master and expand 'Network'?
    Are other machines names listed?

  • Where are you running the GUI from? If its from your desktop then you might want to add it to Client Attributes in the Master Server Properties window.

In there you will see the default checked box for allowing the client to browse.

    EDIT:

HOWTO11297 talks about the Client Attributes properties window

  • Gui? Just running setup.exe on the master server and trying to remote install my clients...

  • Seems the real issue in the post that you referred to was with Computer Browse Service.

Curious to know which installation media you are using on the master server as a full installation release for W2012 R2 clients was only added in 7.6.0.3 release.

    Extract from http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH217819 :

    NB_7.6.0.3.winnt.x64.Client.Win2012R2.exe provides a full installer for NetBackup 7.6.0.3 Client onx64 Windows 2012 R2/8.1

  • Issue found. there was a problem with the computer browser service on the dc.

    Works as designed now :)

  • Exactly as I thought.

How did you find out? By using Windows Explorer as suggested above?

  • Yes, master server wasn't able to browse network computers in the windows explorer network list as well.
Thanks for pointing me into the right direction.
