Upgrade from 7.7.3 to 8.1 - SORT procedure

Hi, I'm organizing the job of the upgrade from Netbackup 7.7.3 to 8.1 on the master server with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.2 (Maipo). The OPS is already at the version 8.1.

I'm following the Veritas Netbackup Upgrade Guide - Release 8.0 and I'm at the point "Recommended SORT procedures for new installations" because I want to create a system-specific installation report for my environment so I downloaded the data collector for Linux/x86-64. The file name is sort_linux_x64.sh but in the manual is written to run ./sortdc that I haven't. Has someone already performed this process that can tell me if I'm doing the right operations please?

Thanks

Intore

There is also a readme.txt file next to the download file on SORT.

I read this in the Readme:

    INSTALLING THE DATA COLLECTOR
    -----------------------------
    To install the data collector:

    1. On the system that will run the data collector, uncompress the
data collector file. Enter one of the following:

    # sh <filename>.sh

    # ./<filename>.sh

where <filename> is in the form sort_ followed by the operating
    system type.

If you already have a data collector installed, the script prompts
you if you want to back up the sort directory.

    2. At the prompt, specify whether you want to run the data collector.

    PS:
Any reason why you want to upgrade to 8.1 and not 8.1.2?
And why go through steps for NEW installion instead of 'Recommended SORT procedures for upgrades' ?

      Hi Marianne,

      thank you for replying.

1 - I'm upgrading to 8.1 instead of 8.1.2 because this is the customer's will.

2 - You are right, I have to go through steps for the upgrade. Anyway the procedure "To create a system-specific installation
report for UNIX or Linux” is the same.

      Kind regards

  • Hey

What you have to do is:

    root on hostname:/tmp $ sh sort_linux_x64.sh

Uncompressing SORT data collector: 100% |**************************************************************************************************************************************************|

Would you like to run the data collector now? [y,n] (y)n

The Veritas Services and Operations Readiness Tools (SORT) data collector has been extracted to the current directory. To run it, use:

    cd sort
    ./sortdc
