VM backup over Datastore

Hello All,

We have Netbackup 7.6. We are backing up VMs at Data store level (Query the VMs with Datastore name). Backups are successful, however we see that few VMs backed up twice (Not All). Below is our setup.

DataStore: D1, D2, D3, D4

Faulty Vms has Boot Drive(C drive) from Data Store D1 or D2 and Data drive (D drive) on D3,D4. Due to this, the VMs are detected in both datastores and backed up twice. VMs with all drives in same datastore has no issues.

any idea to restrict the VMs from backed up twice??? (Migrating the data drive of VM to same datastore is not possible)

Note: We have already moved those VMs to different policy to be backed up by Name.

  • if you have ESXi cluster in Vmware enviornment, i would suggest you to configure the backup policy in ESXi cluster level, it will avoid the issue that you are currently having

create one seperate polilcy for each cluster..
