VM restore to client failure

Hello Everyone !

I have created RHEL VM (RHEL 7, 64bit, ext4 filesystem), now I am able to browse dataset/folders to restore 2-3 files only, but while restoring it shows following error message:

My Environment is:
Master: windows host
Media:HPUX host
Client:RHEL 7 VM

  • Hello

    This looks like redirected restore - so the client which was backed up and the one to which you are restoring are not the same.

    try to create touch file No.Restristions in /usr/openv/netbackup/db/altnames - if altnames does not exist create that folder too. On windows similar thing... Once in place rerun the restore job...

      No, I have backed up the same RHEL VM and trying to restore some files on same RHEL VM.

        in that case your client is not having the media server in his bp.conf file

        so add there in the second line

        SERVER = HPUX.HOST

        or what ever that media server name is

  • quebek - please take this the right way.... but I dead against the No.Restrictions file... don't get me wrong, it's useful in a lab/test/PoC environment... but IMO should never be used in production.

      sdo this is your take... I provided him easiest solution... if he wants to be more secure he will do the reading and realise that there can be other file names like - client name with contents etc... NBU admin guides are widely available and reading those is more than welcome.

      I am not acting here as security officer ;)
