VSR 16 virtual edition

Hi,

I have a small ESXi 6.5 server with 3 VMs that I want to backup regularly. How do I go about it using VSR 16 virtual edition? I am finding little to no information at all about that subject. Is VSR installed directly on the VMs? Does virtual edition differ from server edition only in licensing, or does it have added value?

Thank you!

You can use either of those methods.

If you choose to do a virtual conversion, you still need to manually create the new VM as the conversion process will only create the new virtual disk (.vmdk).

Yes, you install VSR on each VM that you want to protect.

The Virtual Edition is, as you say, just a licensing change from the standard version of VSR - there are no technical differences between the 2 products. Hope that helps,

Hi Criley, Thank you for your reply.

How do you restore a VM? Do you create a new VM and boot it off the SRD, or perform a one time virtual conversion of the latest recovery point directly to the ESXi host?
