Backup Exec QuickStart and Desktop/Laptop option

We are purchasing a new server with the QuickStart version of Backup Exec on it and have a few questions:

1. Can the network share that the desktop/laptop add-on writes to be set to be the tape drive directly or will it have to be the hard drive?
2. Seems like the tool will create local backups and version info on a local folder when not connected to the network? How much space will that take up?
3. Will the add-on software work stand-alone or in conjunction with the QuickStart version, without requiring the purchase of the full-blown Symantec Backup software?
4. What is the pricing for the Desktop/Laptop option and what kind of per user licensing is there (per desktop/laptop or per server)?
