The job break

Hy everybody

I have the following Problem

I make a Bckup to Disk Job, and after i save it on a HP Ultirum 448 with a Backup Medium (Ultrium 2, 400 GB) .
It works without problems, but before one week i've became problems:

After a allways different time, the backup Medium came aout off the HP Drive. Then in the Symantec Job Controll Center, a yellow question mark came and say: pleas insert a writeable medium in the drive.
If i put in the old Medium, its come out again.
If i put in a new Medium, the job run further....

The first Medium is rewitable...thats not the problem, its seems like ther is no more space on the Medium, but before it works with the same quantity of date...

Does anybody have an idea?

Thanks a lot.

Info: Symantec Backup Exec 10.d
Serer: Windows Server 2003 Standard

  • Hello,

The TAPE is Overwrite protected.....Please check the Overwrite protection period of the Media Set associated with the job. If possible let me know the append Period and Overwrite protection perion and the TAPES associated with the media set.

symantec KB which might be helpful:

The alert "Please insert overwritable media" is displayed during a backup operation using Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Servers
