Unix Agent will not "expand", displays "None" instead of files.

I have a Backup Exec 10.1 server, and a Red Hat Linux server that needs to be backed up. The Linux server has the latest Remote Agent installed.

The Linux server shows up under "Unix Agents" on my Backup Exec server, but it won't expand. I see "None." in the area where the files are usually listed.

Starting beremote (the remote agent) in debugging mode shows this (I've changed the IPaddresses & server names):

Anyone have any ideas?

I've started to think the problem may be where the log shows that the password is NULL and the login failed, but I'm not sure where to fix that.

I'd really appreciate some assistance with this issue, I've been going around in circles for weeks with it! Anything at all will be appreciated.

Thank you!

  • Hello,

What is the version of Linux on the remote server? The error in the log:RALUS Agent not autherized.

Ensure that you have done the following:

    - Check that the linux version you use is compatible with BE 10d as per the SCL below:
    http://support.veritas.com/docs/278254

-Since RALUS is a paid option, ensure that the ralus license is installed on the media server
    - Then install the agent on the remote server.

Revert if the issue persists after having followed the steps given above.
  • It does appear to be a supported version of Linux.

I found out that I have a license for BE 8 & 9 Unix Agents, but not 10d... So I will purchase a license and try to get it going from there.

    Thank you for your help!
  • Hi,

We recommend you to install RALUS on supported platforms.

If the linux server is not listed in the compatibility list then we do no guarantee the functioning of the linux server with Backup Exec

    Thanks!
