Need To Update My Images In My DR Lab - All The Current Images Are Expired

Hello,

I am doing some DR testing in my lab & I don't want to have to reconfigure my entire environment, I am just wanting to be able to have the system recognize new backups that I took yesterday in order to do a restore down in the lab.

I thought there were was a way that this could be done without using the wizard.

I am using a UNIX media server & UNIX master server in Prod & in the DR Lab.

If you can tell me what I have to do, I certainly would appreciate it.

Thanks,

  • IMHO, your DR lab process should follow your real DR process.

Keeping two master servers with the same name on the same LAN isn't supported.  Even if you did manage to rcp your flat \db\images catalog database over to another node, it's probably not straightforward to copy the EMM database.

    Maybe, something along these lines:

    1) Shutdown netbackup on master.

    2) Export/copy the EMM database to other node.

    3) Perform a catchup copy of \db\images to other node.

    4) Break LAN links

    5) Bring up NetBackup on real production node.

    6) Rename server and change IP on "test" DR node to same as real master server.

    7) Bring up NetBackup on DR master instance.

...and to update it next day:

    8) Shutdown NetBackup on both nodes.

    9) Rename prod DR node and change IP back to DR values.

    10) Bring up LAN links.

    11) Goto to step 2 above.

Might as well just do a catalog recovery.
