Thanks Re: cannot start backup exec server service Hey Chris, This used to happen to me somewhat often with BE10. I found after windows updates BEengine just would not start If you got add/remove programs click show updates and remove the ones that installed around that time (if any). Reboot and try to start the BE service again (if it didn't automatically) After I got a good backup again I would stop the BE service and reapply the updates and they would not cause the issue again in most cases. Carl Grandfather Father Son Policy problem. Hello All, I implemented a new policy tuesday of last week to sort out or Daily, Weekly, and Monthly backups. I tested the policy onDec 3rd. I selected all weekdays to run daily jobs but on friday to run weekly and the last day of the month to run the monthly. I test it that night by also scheduling a monthly backup (becuase we had missed it on the 30th) It did not run the daily and picked the monthly job. However on friday it ran the daily backup job not the weekly. I was wondering where I could find where and or how it decided what job to run , there is no mentiuon in the logs I can find. Here is how the policy is layed out. If start times conflict, 2 - Weekly supersedes 1 - Daily. If start times conflict, 3 - Monthly supersedes 1 - Daily. If start times conflict, 3 - Monthly supersedes 1 - Weekly. Thanks in advance Carl
