How do you configure the exchange dag backup to run over the iscsi connection? I get an error Exchange -- The job failed with the following error: The media server could not connect to the remote computer. The remote computer may not exist on the selected subnet. Try an alternative network interface, or allow Backup Exec to choose any available network interface. Our iscsi network is a different vlan then the dag/server vlan. It works fine for vmware, whats different about exchange? Re: Best raid level for backup exec local storage WHen I said good write speed I meant when the tape is being restored to the local storage. If you think raid 5 is good Ill stick with that. Thanks Re: Best raid level for backup exec local storage I want the fastest raid level for writes. all else you mention is a plus. Raid 5 is slower for writes then raid 10. Raid 1 is also fast but has no redundancy. Your statement "no single raid type will be better" is false. The most appropriate raid level for fast writes and redundancy I feel is raid 10. Any have any other suggestions? Re: Best raid level for backup exec local storage No. The tape drive will be connected to its own sas hba. I simply want to know the best raid level for the local 4tb of space for restoring data. Best raid level for backup exec local storage I am upgrading the storage for our backup exec server. I am adding 8 X 500GB 6gb SAS 7200 rpm sff drives. What raid level is will give me the fastest restores? I also will be using an lto6 autoloadler (HP MSL2024) I wanted to do raid 10 but a raid 10 controller can get very expensive. Will raid 5 work just fine? Thanks. SolvedRe: Backup job spans more then 8 tapes. how to changes tapes with active job. This makes sense. Thanks. However my backup job is still running, the export job wont run until the backup job completes. I have the mailslot setup, however I can't unlock the autoloader with the backup job active. How do I get around this? Backup job spans more then 8 tapes. how to changes tapes with active job. The autoloader can use 8 tapes at time. My backup job is starting to need more then 8 tapes? I don't see a way to unlock the autoloader and add one more tape while the job is active. If you cancel the job you have to start all over. Is there a way to resume the job or add the additional tapes without canceling the job? What is the best solution in this situation ? Solved
