I have reviewed those documents, as well as several others prior to posting my request. Backing up files on the named server is very fast and efficient. It lags when backing up Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes. Do not give me the related article, etc about how backing up of Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes is very slow, etc etc. Read all the articles. This JUST started 2 weeks ago (read in prior posting), prior to this lag, the backup speed was much quicker and very efficient. 6-7 hours compared to 20-22 for the most recent backup (Last night)Exchange Cluster - Slow BackupsHopefully someone can assist with my problem I have here. I am currently running BackupExec 10d (10.1.5629) on a 2-node cluster with SQL. Exchange and MSDTC run on one node and SQL on the other. BackupExec runs on the SQL node and backups the data from Exchange node. About two weeks ago, backup time drastically increased from about 7hours to over 20 hours (a backup size of appx 260g). The majority of the time is spent backing up Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes and I having a hard time concluding why. When I move the Exchange node to SQL and run the backup, time falls back down to 7 hour range. When the backup is running normally (SQL on 1 node and Exchange on the other) network traffic for the backup is reduced to a few mere bytes per second compared to megabytes seen prior. Network speed otherwise is normal (meaning while the backup is running I can move a 1g file in appx 1 1/2 minutes). The servers are connected to a Gigabit switch for LAN connections and a x-over cable for the Cluster NIC. I have already attempted a re-install of the Remote Agent with no success. A temporary solution would be to move Exchange to SQL prior to backup and back using a pre/post command but it would cause my users to get a server unavailable for a few moments in the early hours of the workday, which I am trying to avoid. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
