Error writing security data stream
I have a Windows 2003 server with 9 drives running Oracle 9i. On Monday, drives J & K failed and we lost ALL data on these 2 drives. Drive J contained SWAN02.ORA, SWINDX02.ORA, and USER01.ORA. Drive K contained RBS01.ORA, RBS02.ORA, ORATEMP.ORA & UNDOTBS10.ORA. These files were all backed up about 8 hours prior to the drive crash using the BE Oracle Agent. I now need to restore all files from J & K back to the repaired drives. Currently, Oracle is NOT running because of these missing data files. Data on other drives was NOT affected. When I attempt the restore using the Oracle Agent in BE, I receive the message "Error writing security data stream" for all files and then they are skipped. Any suggestions?871Views26likes1CommentFailed authentication on only ONE server
Hi, I recently had to reset the pw that the BE software uses. I have 8 servers that run BE, some using v9.1 and some still using v8.6. Some of them backup just the server they run on, some of them backup workstations and other servers, as well. I have a win2k domain. I reset the pw on the backup exec service account which is a member of the domain admin group. Then I reset the pw in all instances of BE on all the servers. 7 of them are fine with the pw change, the 8th one gives me authentication failure as soon as I try to run the job. All servers are running win2k, all are using the EXACT SAME account for BE. Obviously I have already tried resetting the server in question but that doesnt work. I dont understand how this could work on 7 out of 8 servers, and not the 8th. It was working fine on all the servers before I reset the pw. Suggestions? Everytime I have made a restore, the following scheduled backup job fails. This happens everytime I have made a restore... The backup job stops when counting aprox. 641 000 byte, then I have to cancel the job. The next scheduled job will work just fine. I am running Veritas 9.1 on a NAS Windows 2003 server that worked flawlessly for several months and then while changing some tapes, the database became corrupt. This required reloading BE and since then whenever a job is scheduled to start, the job engine shuts down. The Event Viewer shows Application Error with message: Faulting application bengine.exe version 9.14691.0 faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.0 fault address 0x000109b5 I can restart the services and occasionally can manually start the job and it will run to completion but then shut down next time a job is scheduled to start. I have loaded this onto another server with different tape drive and get similar results. Job engine stop running.686Views11likes4CommentsInformation Store is Not an Option to Backup

Can you backup a server on a different segment? If so, what do I have to do? We have two networks that connect to our firewall, the 1 network is our internal network and the other one is where the web server exists. I want to backup the webserver from the internal network. I'm not sure what ports have to be opened in order for the backup to work.465Views8likes3CommentsService pack information
I am taking over for a previous administrator and I would like to know how to tell whether the latest service packs and patches have been applied to our Backup exec software. We are currently using version 9.1. How do i find this information. Also where can I get a list of problems fixed by service pack 1 ?708Views8likes3Comments
