We're having issues backing up the boot (C:\) and data (D:\) partitions on one of our Oracle DB servers (Windows - non RAC). I can backup the Oracle database and the system state via Backup Exec just fine. The job is failing when it attempts to process the individual volumes. I've tried creating a separate backup job and selected a subset of individual files on the boot partition but the job still fails. The job log simply states: Resource Name: \\ServerName\C: Error: e000fe09 - The directory is invalid. I've opened a support ticket with Symantec on the issue, but it's been languishing for about 2 weeks. I'm hoping someone from the forums has come across this issue and can recommend a viable solution.3.9KViews0likes6CommentsBEError(0xe0001402) This server name is not in Backup Exec server's authentication list
hi, all We are using BackupExec 2012 and been using it for our Oracle backup for months, few days ago, the backup job suddenly fail with error "BEError(0xe0001402) This server name is not in Backup Exec server's authentication list. Enter the server's fully qualified domain name and logon account into the Backup Exec server's authentication list. Server names in the authentication list are case-sensitive." Our Oracle server with fully qualified domain name is still inthe Backup Exec server's authentication list. Nothing had been changed. I monitored the backup job and found that the job went smoothly in backuping and verifying...and in the last step, the error prompt. I done the catalog database consistency check and found no error at all. The error occured only when we backup the Oracle instance but it's run ok if we backup normal file in the server. Is there anyone out there know why? Thanks VincentSolved3.3KViews1like4CommentsInstalling Backup Exec Remote Agent For Oracle On Linux
Dears ,,, Greetings, we have Symantec Backup Exec 2012 Version 14.0 Rev. 1798 (64-bit) installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. We used to have a remote agent for oracle (Symantec symbdsnap, build 2.0.1-1783) installed on a Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.8 64-bit Kernal 2.6.32-300.10.1.el5uek and it was working fine. Recently, we have updated the operating system to Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.10 64-bit kernal 2.6.39-400.209.1.el5uek. The agent is being installed successfully but when go through the log it says (This platform is not supported. Exiting install.VxIF::Error:: ERROR: Installing SymSnap Driver Failed.). Is there a another version or anyother way to deploy an agent for Backup Exec on this server.2.9KViews0likes9CommentsSymantec Backup Exec 2010 Remote Agent Utility Authentication Error
Dear Sir, While creating Oracle Database Backup job, Testing is successful, but when the actual backup process starts it gives the authentication error. "The logon account specified in the remoate agent utility cannot be authenticated. Update the entry in the list of authentication credentials in the media server" Our Backup Server IP : 10.36.65.11 (W2k3 STD R2 32 Bit) Our Database Server IP : 10.46.65.2 (W2k3 STD R2 64 Bit) Through Firewall, nating of Ip series has been configured & backup Ports are also opened. Also we were getting Backup Agent Utility Version error, "Make sure the correct version of remote agent is installed and running on the target computer. If the server or resource is no longer exists, remove it from the selection list ....." we did an unstallation from the Database server. Initially from RAWS64 the agent utility had been installed. But after we noticedthis versionerror duing uninstallation with suggestion to install from BEX64. We install from BEX64. Even after that also we are getting the same authentication errors. Event the authentication has been created in the authentication list. Our SAN : XG8T0MEXP & 6ND6LFEXP. We created MysymAccount (bala.it@ppcoimbatore.com), but could not include the SAN -XG8T0MEXP details. Pls. include the same also. Pls. give us backup remote agent authentication solution. How do we check the communication between remote agent and backup or media server (in our case both are same).2.8KViews0likes25CommentsUsing Backup Exec to backup Oracle Database
Hi, I've never used Backup Exec and IIwould like to know if Backup Exec can answermy requests before to decide to use it for our customers. Context: We install our application at our customers, the application usean Oracle database - The size of database can vary from30GB to 600GB - The database is install in a Windows server 2003,2008 or 2012 -The objectif is to backup the Oracle Database running on the server - Only 1 database to backup (for each installation) - The backup destination will be ashared network directory - 1 full backup perday Requirements: - Backup Exec + Agent should install on the same server - Backup should run automatically once a day. Questions: - In case when the server crashes, does it easy to restore the database in the other server ? - Does Backup Exec uses RMAN to do the Oracle database backup ? - Does the backup set can be used by RMAN ? - Does it common to install Backup Exec on the same server ? what is your recommandations ? Hi, We have Backup Exec 2010 rev 2896, and one of the things we backup is an oracle database on a separate server using the BE Oracle agent. The backup shows as successful every night, both full and differential backups, and the job log shows there's data in each backuptoo. However, if I try to restore that database, I can't see it to select. I look in View by Resource (no other view works for Oracle, apparently), and the db is in the selection list. Upon opening it, it asks for the correct login account, so I select the Oracle sys account used for the backup, and I see Current Database [Open] and Control Files. I understand that then underneath those should be the various media that contain the backup, however neither current database nor control files show anything - they're greyed out with only "No selections exist for this resource" showing in the right pane. Does anyone know why this might be? I'm becoming a little panicky that we might not be able to recover this database if it goes wrong!Solved1.6KViews0likes10CommentsFinal error: 0xe000846b - The resource could not be backed up because an error occurred while connecting to the Backup Exec for Windows Servers Remote Agent
