Power8 - netbackup integration
Hi Guys, Im taking oracle backups but jobs are taking too long, these oracle instances are on AIX 7.1 and are running on IBM Power 8. I need to know if there is a way to zone this hardware with 5230 appliance in orden to take SAN backups, because POWER 8 has HBA cards. How the zoning would go??Solved1.3KViews0likes7CommentsZoning Aix to Netbackup 5230
Hi guys, I just create a zone between AIX (LPAR), 5230 appliance and a storage like this As you can the AIXserver has two FC adapter each one belongs to a zone, butsometimes I lose visibility from netbackup so I have to go to the client and run cfgmgr command or even restart clients services. Then on AIX server I run some commands like this root@PRECBPHCDB]:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin>lsdev -Cc tape The output Im getting is: rmt0 Available 42-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive rmt1 Available 44-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive rmt2 Available 44-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive [root@PRECBPHCDB]:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin>tail It is normal to get"Other FC SCSI Tape drive". Should I install a Veritas driver o something like that?561Views0likes1CommentNetbackup enterprise server AIX FLAT file backup

A quick question about using NetBackup with compressed SQL Server backups. Our backups infrastructure consists of NetBackup v7.6 and NetBackup 5230 appliances. Our SQL server estate is a mixture of SQL Server versions 2005-2012 on Windows 2003-2012. We've noticed that the deduplication ratio (as reported by backup jobs in Netbackup Activity Monitor) for compressed SQL backups is 0% (we experimented with the NetBackup SQL Agent and alsostandard flat file backups). Now we weren't expecting to get much deduplication out of a compressed SQL Server backup - but it was a suprise to get nothing at all. Previous tests performed on other deduplication platforms(Exagrid and Windows native 2012 deduplication) showed that a noticeable (albeit muchlower rate compared with uncompressed backups)deduplication level of about4:1 was possible withcompressed SQL Server backups. So my question is - is this a configuration issue on our NetBackup infrastructure - or is there a technical\designreason why thededuplication of compressed SQL Server backups is not available inNetBackup? We have NetBackup 7.6.0.4 running on Appliance 5220 ver. 2.6.0.4. Recently some resource issues forced us review the processes on one of the SQL cluster node and found the (see attached) nbostpxy.exe, each eating up 6% CPU utilization. I stopped the client services and killed all these threads manually. However, the next time back kicked in, the same threads appeared and peaked CPU utilization. I understand that this process is involved with deduplication processing on the client, but we are not running any client side deduplication. We have media server deduplication configured with Appliances 5220. Is this kind of bug, please share your thoughts.Solved1.9KViews0likes5CommentsStatus 2060019 and status 87 Killing same job
Got following errors in our details on a solaris backup. Im on an appliance, 5220. We are running 7.6.1.1. Link to 2060019 in error message is a cyclical redirect. I saw in other posts that this was a problem in the pre 7.5.0.4 world, but was supposed to be fixed in 7.5.0.5. Which is not our experience. Is there are work around for this? Anyone else seen it in the post 7.6.1.1 version? 05/10/2015 00:56:17 - Critical bptm (pid=4960) Storage Server Error: (Storage server: PureDisk:servername) mtstrm_close_write_channel: Fatal error occured in Multi-Threaded Agent: Close Write Channel command failed: Cr_ErrnoException: Timed out after waiting 180s for the read threads to complete (cnt=1) V-454-96 05/10/2015 00:56:17 - Critical bptm (pid=4960) sts_close_handle failed: 2060019 error occurred on network socket 05/10/2015 00:56:17 - Critical bptm (pid=4960) sts_close_handle failed: 2060019 error occurred on network socket 05/10/2015 00:56:17 - Error bptm (pid=4960) cannot write image to disk, media close failed with status 2060019 05/10/2015 00:56:17 - Info bptm (pid=4960) EXITING with status 87 <---------- Thanks in advance.2.8KViews0likes4CommentsNeed clarification on job details detailed status regarding client side dedupe
