Final error: 0xe00084ec - A backup storage read/write error has occurred.
Good morning, I recently gotten this error everytime my schedule job run on Symantec Backup Exec 2010 Final error: 0xe00084ec - A backup storage read/write error has occurred. If the storage is tape based, this is usually caused by dirty read/write heads in the tape drive. Clean the tape drive, and then try the job again. If the problem persists, try a different tape. You may also need to check for problems with cables, termination, or other hardware issues. If the storage is disk based, check that the storage subsystem is functioning properly. Review any system logs or vendor specific logs associated with the storage to help determine the source of the problem. You may also want to check any vendor specific documentation for troubleshooting recommendations. Final error category: Backup Media Errors Tried to reinstall backup exec and repluging all cable but still fail. Any solution or idea?7.9KViews0likes15CommentsInformation Store shows 0kb, can't backup Exchange 2010 with BE 2010 R2
Hello. I've read several technotes about this, and threads, and haven't found the answer yet. I have moved Backup Exec 2010 R2 to a WIndows Server 2008 R2 x64 machine so that I could backup my Exchange 2010. My Exchange 2010 server is a VM within ESXi 4.1, for reference, but the RAWS is installed on the Exchange 2010 VM, and so is VMWare Tools. I have installed the Exchange 2010 Management tools on the new BE Media server. The Exchange 2010 server already has the MAPI/CDO 1.2.1 installed. I am getting this when trying to choose selections for doing a GRT backup of the Exchange 2010 server...notice that the Information Store shows 0kb for both the Mailbox Database and the Public Folder Database: I found out that I did NOT have the Backup Exec system account set in the Local Admin group on the Ex2010 server, and did NOT have that account in the "Organization Management" role group. I fixed both things, and verified that the account is a Local Admin on the mail server and is in the "Organization Management" role group. Yet, I still can't get the Information Store to populate and backup. I tried just selecting the Information Store here anyways thinking maybe it was a glitch, and when running the backup, I received this error: Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to get the Exchange 2010 GRT backup to work?Solved3.8KViews0likes22CommentsHow get Backup Exec to delete snapshots?
With Advanced Open File option turned on in Backup Exec, snapshots are created for VMWare virtual machines. These snapshots are not deleted after the backup completes, however. How can I get these snapshots to automatically delete?Solved3.3KViews0likes4CommentsVMWare backup failing
Hello all, I've got an issue when trying to backup vSphere 4 VMs using Backup 2010R2. It's an intermittent issue, so I'm not exactly sure of the cause. I have between 15-20 VMs to be backed up. Everytime I run a backup job I will get one or two VM backups failing with the error below>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Job Completion Status Job ended: Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 5:27:51 AM Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe00095a7 - The operation failed because the virtual center or ESX server reported that the virtual machine's configuration is invalid. Final error category: Resource Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-38311 It's frustrating, because I will then run a seperate job after the failed job and the VMs complete without any errors. The link that Symantec provide does not contain any information. The credentials for the job are good, the media device is a local disk - not sure if any further information is required! Any thoughts? Cheers Magyar2.6KViews1like15CommentsHelp with restoring individual email with Backup Exec 2010
Hello everyone; I'm new in the forum and is my first post :o). I have looked around but haven't found a solid answer to the following question: I use Backup Exec 2010 and I'm trying to restore a single email from a user's mailbox. Everytime I try to restore the job it starts fine but it fails becauseit tryis to restore the complete information store, how can I do it so that it only restore the single email or folder that I want? is that possible? or must I restore the whole information store? I use Exchange 2007 and both exchange and backup exec are in a Windows 2008 server. HEre are the errors: Restore- \\EMAIL\Microsoft Information Store\Fourth Storage Group V-79-57344-33935 - The path on the media server for staging temporary restore data when restoring individual items from tape ran out of disk space. Recently our tape library died, making all of our tape backups worthless as the model has been discontinued by Sony and it makes little sense to pay more than MSRP for used components. So I thought I'd give backup-to-disk a chance and was considering using a collection of cheap USB drives instead of tapes. I reasoned that the speed should be faster than tape, but instead I found that the tape drive was doing about 450-500 MB/min, while the B2D backup only recorded about 35 MB/min. The full backup job we run on Saturdays usually takes 12 hours, but when I came in Monday morning I found the B2D job was still running after 35 hours and was only about 75% done. Obviously this is unacceptable. Is there something I am doing wrong? I know USB is not as fast as SCSI, but even so it should be doing better than 35 MB/min right?1.2KViews0likes10CommentsBackup Exec Scheduled Job Reports Missing Attachment When Email Arrives
I have scheduled job reports that succeed and I can see the report and save it to my desktop. I also have notifications set up and I receive an email notification that the job report succeeded. I have the option checked to include the Job Report as an attachment. I never receive the attachment. i have also tried doing it through the Alerts Categories via Job Success - same result - no attachments - just an email. This happens if I send email external or keep it internal.Solved1.1KViews0likes4CommentsBE2010 Remote Agent Exchange 2003 Issue
Hi, I have recently purchased BE2010 from Techsoup, It is licensed as NFR which gives access to all remote agents (I was previously using Backup Exec 10). My current setup consists of two servers both running Server 2003 SP2, one acts as a files server, the other acts as a mail server running Exchange 2003 SP2. I have installed BE2010 on the file server and selected Exchange remote agent during installation. I have successfully pushed the remote agent to the mail server (RAWS, there is no option to push the Exchange agent, my understanding is that it is performed by the BE software through the regular RAWS agent). When I choose sources for my backup job, there is no option to select mailboxes on the mail server. Any Ideas?Solved921Views0likes5CommentsBackup Exec 2010 64 bit remote agent
Hello, I am running backup exec 2010 version 13.0 rev 2896, 32 bit edition. I am trying to do a redirected restore to a 64 bit Windows Storage server (SAN). I have installed the backup exec remote agent (64 Bit) on the SAN. The problem is that backup exec doesn't recognize that the remote agent is installed on this server. Even when I try to do a backup of the SAN it does not recognize the remote agent is installed. (It does not show up in the list of servers and when I try to browse by domain, it can't connect with the server due to a password issue. There is no problem withe the password. Basically I cannot talk to the 64 bit SAN at all, backup or restore mode. Does anyone have any ideas.? should this configuration work.? Does anyone have a storage works server working with backup exec.? ThanksSolved870Views0likes4CommentsBackup solution with HP NAS and HP Auto loader !
